Tell us about when you started Physi:
I started physi when I was a 5 year old because my mother did it as a child and I thought it sounded like fun! I started with a tiny club (Tumbi Umbi) before I moved over to Gosford Wamberal as a 7 year old when Louise needed someone for a team! And the rest, as they say, is history!
What brings you back to Physi?
I keep coming back because I have no idea what I would do with myself if I didn't have my weekly physi classes to look forward to! After so many years it has become a habit that on Mondays (& Thursdays) I go to physi. My brain (& my body) go crazy over the summer when I don't go and I start making up moves or doing old routines without realising it!
What is the best part of the Physi year?
I love learning the new work every year. Its always different and creates a challenge (usually in the form of "Why did they use this music?!"). Then there is also the chance to catch up with everyone from other clubs every year at teams and champion girl. Some of the girls I have known for nearly 25 years!
What challenges you in Physi?
For me the challenge is just simply to remember my work and do my best. I do aim for Grand but I know that making it that far is difficult (I have only made it once in 26 years so far!) so as long as I have done my personal best I am happy.
Who are your Physi role models?
I have always looked up to Melissa ever since I was a teenager and really began to understand just how effortless she looks while performing. I still like marching behind her just so I can try to figure out how to make my marching look as good as hers (I still haven't figured it out after being teammates for over 10 years!). I also look up to Louise and Nikki for not only remembering their own work but every other groups as well! They do it incredibly well and it makes me push myself just that little bit harder.
Anything else you want to tell us?
Don't set your expectations too high. Who knows, you may just surprise yourself with how well you do.
